When excessive water or high contents of moisture penetrates through a concrete slab, it can cause severe problems for concrete floors, sealers, epoxy floors, wood floors and other floor coverings. Moisture Mitigation is necessary when high concentrations of moisture and alkalinity (levels determined through various testing) are present causing the deterioration of flooring adhesives and de-lamination of concrete coatings and concrete overlays by osmotic action. Even with relatively low moisture vapor emissions (MVER), elevated alkalinity can compromise even the toughest flooring system adhesives and concrete acrylic sealers. To avoid this problem, the concrete slab should be coated with a thicker, lower viscosity Concrete Moisture Barrier or Vapor Reduction material that will tightly bond to the concrete and cure under these very adverse conditions. Serving the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and all of Texas.
Concrete Moisture Barrier problems have a higher chance of appearing in concrete floors or substrates that have had major shifting and ground movement causing major cracks and separation, foundation work done (piers in slab), saw cuts from plumbing or electrical, concrete additions and especially if a thick plastic visqueen vapor shield or vapor retarder was neglected to be pre-placed before the concrete slab or original foundation was poured (ASTM 1745).
Offering one and two-coat vapor reduction moisture control epoxy systems to address problematic moisture vapor emissions in concrete. Concrete moisture barriers, in some cases, can actually be used a finished floor, however, we highly recommend a durable topcoat to prevent scuffing and protect the coating. Offered in clear, tinted, pigmented, custom colors, or metallic for a decorative moisture barrier epoxy floor.
-Calcium Chloride/ Moisture Vapor Emission Rate (MVER) testing (ASTM F1869)
-Relative Humidity (RH) testing (ASTM 2170)
-pH Testing (ASTM F170)

Identify the the amount of moisture coming up in a given area to determine next steps and the right course of action.
FloorRescue can demo, remove and haul off any and all damaged flooring caused by evident moisture problems so the problem can be identified.
Once the concrete floor is exposed properly, moisture tests can be done accurately. Cracks will be revealed and potential causes of the problem will be made more visible to address.
ARDEX Americas delivers one and two-coat moisture control systems to address problematic moisture vapor emissions in concrete. Our moisture control systems are easy-to-apply, provide superior coverage, and are backed by industry-leading warranties.
Moisture Remediation is necessary when high levels of alkalinity to moisture are present in a concrete slab or substrate. Epoxy floor coatings, cement toppings, polymer overlays, adhesives or floor coverings all have limitations that high levels of moisture will challenge and cause break down or delamitation. Moisture Vapor Barriers or MVB's are used to block hydrostatic pressure and moisture from coming up through a concrete slab or substrate potentially causing failure to a concrete floor system , such as concrete overlays or epoxy coatings, which rely on the surface underneath them to bond to. Whether you need a moisture control system installed under wood floors or you want to ensure the quality of our decorative concrete coating install, moisture barriers give clients the re-assurance of performance and longevity in a world of uncertainties. Sometimes, the causes for failure in a slab are attributed to the original concrete mix, nature's course in the ground, or just the Texas soil in a given area. Moisture barriers are non-negotiable in our concrete coatings systems when installed at ground level.
Moisture Barrier Warranty Systems must be requested from client or property owner beforehand. Documentation starts at there first moisture test and there will additional steps recommended by manufacturers for the full warranty to be in place
